4th of July Trip to Washington, D.C.
We took a trip to D.C. July 3-6. We've only been to D.C. once when Brooke was 2 months old...what a long time ago! We didn't get to see much then and have been wanting to go back. What a perfect weekend to go...our nation's birthday! We had a great time, though our feet hurt by the end of the weekend.
On Friday, we visited the International Spy Museum. We took part in an hour long interactive scenario where we were spies trying to find and return a part to a nuclear weapon while on assignment in Kandahar. It was a lot of fun!
On our way to see some of the most well-known sites, there was a parade downtown. Rachel, we took a picture of the Hare Krishna group cuz we knew you would appreciate it! Haha!
We visited the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the White House, the Vietnam Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. That night we enjoyed one of the most amazing fireworks shows we've ever seen.

On Saturday we visited Arlington National Cemetery, where we saw the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard (which left us speechless), JFK's memorial/grave, and the Iwo Jima Memorial (it's huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). We then spent 3 hours touring the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum...heart wrenching and humbling. After that it was time for a little fun, so we headed to ESPN Zone for supper and fun in the game room.
